X-Envelope-From: cpriest@cix.compulink.co.uk Date: Sat, 27 Jun 98 17:23 BST-1 From: cpriest@cix.compulink.co.uk (Christopher Priest) Subject: The Last Deadloss Visions To: memory@blank.org Message-Id: To Nathan J. Mehl Dear Mr Mehl Several people have passed on to me the news that you have a copy of my essay "The Last Deadloss Visions" (a.k.a. "The Book on the Edge of Forever") available from your website. (Or, as I haven't seen it myself, perhaps accessible in some other way through the internet.) I'm grateful to the number of people (like you) who have generously given their own web space to my essay, and made it available to such a wide audience. The friendly encouragement I have had from this worldwide exposure has been extremely cheering, and I've made a lot of new friends because of it. About three years ago I decided to withdraw all downloadable copies from the internet, and asked the holders I knew of to remove it from their pages. My feeling was that it had had a lot of exposure, most people who wanted a copy had been able to download it and the problem of keeping so many different copies up to date was too much. Everyone I approached cheerfully withdrew it. I'd be grateful if you too could withdraw it now. The published book is still in print and selling well, so this is not a question of suppressing the essay. I originally made it available myself on the internet, but now I am asking for it to be withdrawn. I'd be grateful to hear back from you, confirming you have done so. Thanks again for all your past support. Christopher Priest
